I enjoy educating children as they learn new skills that will carry them on through their journey of life. My mission is to guide each child I interact with to become better today than they were yesterday.

  • Gabrielle Allen- Pre K counselor.

My name is Gabrielle and my college experience was a bit unorthodox. I unexpectedly attended my first semester of college relatively unaware of the college culture and found myself severely homesick. I missed my friends, family and all that Chicago had to offer. However, as the semester progressed, I found my niche and began to grow in the community which I was in. I came into college with my major being nursing without realizing how demanding the curriculum is. I had to quickly learn how to mange my social life and my course of study, which overall lead me to become more confident in myself and the path that I was taking. Reflecting on this past year , I have gained valuable insight about myself, adulthood and womanhood that will undoubtedly shape me for years to come.

“Perhaps best of all, camps offer kids a chance to feel like they belong. All those goofy chants and team songs, the sense of common purpose and attachment to the identity that camps promote go a long way to offering children a sense of being rooted.”

— Dr. Michael Ungar (Scientific Director, CYCC Network)
